Introduction
The Giantex low twin metal loft bed would have been just another run-of-the-mill metal loft bed if not for the addendum it comes with: the slide. Which turns this bed into a bona fide fun station.
The overall design of the bed is simple, you could call it classic, nothing out of the ordinary here. It is made from tubular steel. The marketing blurb calls these heavy duty pipes, but I don’t know. They don’t look all that heavy duty to me. That said, I’m sure they’ll take the load they are built for just fine.
With 43 inches of total height the bed is quite low for a loft, but that does have its advantages. Lower height means a lower risk of injury in case of a fall which makes this bed suitable for younger children. Parents often use these types of low profile loft beds to transfer their 3 or 4 years olds to their first big girl/boy bed. The allure of a lofted sleeping position has proven time and again strong enough to bring around a youngster unwilling to change her or his sleeping habits.
The 29.5 inches of under bed clearance may not seem like much at first, but it’s enough to stack in there some storage shelves or maybe a kids’ recliner or a bean bag. Or both, why not.
The ladder is integrated into the bed frame and features what has to be the thinnest rungs I’ve seen so far. Good thing there are only two of them. Some foam padding might be a good idea here. Although, kids usually complain about these things hurting their feet a lot less than older folks do.
The slide looks pretty good. The safety rails do not appear to be as luxuriously high as with some of the competition, but they should serve their purpose just fine. Note that the slide protrudes into the room 56.5 inches, which means the fully assembled bed will take up 98 inches of space in your room. And you still need some run-out area, you don’t want the kids to bump into a wall or a piece of furniture on the way down. So, taking some measurements to make sure the bed will fit seems like a good idea.

The Giantex low loft bed features bearing capacity of 330 lbs. This is more than most of the competition can offer and shows the manufacturer’s confidence in its product. If you’re a bit on the bulkier side but would still like to get up there on occasion to snuggle with your child, the higher weight capacity might be the thing that decides it for you.
Finally, the product is available in 3 finishes. Black, silver, white. The usual.
What Users Say
At the time of this writing the Giantex low loft bed with slide has gathered 120 ratings on Amazon. The average rating is 4.5 out of 5 stars. 73% of reviewers gave the bed 5 stars. 4% gave it a 1 star.
The Pros
Quality Of Build: By and large the reviewers seem to be happy with the construction quality of this bed and most often characterize it as very sturdy or even super sturdy. ‘Very well made’ is another expression I’ve seen written several times. A few buyers actually expressed their surprise with the quality, especially considering the price.
Ease Of Assembly: The large majority of buyers had no problem putting this bed together. ‘Easy to set up’ and ‘easy to assemble’ and ‘easy to put together’ are probably the most oft repeated phrases in user reviews. A 5′ woman claims to have done it herself ‘in 20 30 minutes tops.’ Reports from others are more moderate, but on average it seems the job shouldn’t take more than an hour for two people.
Value For Money: I wrote above that ‘easy to assemble’ is the most oft repeated phrase by reviewers, but ‘great value for the price’ or some spin-off of that comes in a close second. Very few (if any) people regret buying it, unless they’ve had some serious issue. But more on that below.
The Giantex low loft bed also gets praised for its looks and is being called anything from very cute to beautiful. The slide, obviously, is a hit; I probably didn’t even have to mention that. The under bed space, likewise, is highly appreciated. Probably more so by the parents, though.
The Cons
Pretty much every loft bed comes with a few reports of damaged pieces, marks, blemishes, what have you. However, it is my very subjective perception that this one gets a bit more of that than usual. From dents and scratches via missing screws, caps, and even ladders, to parts broken after some use.
Good news is, the manufacturer seems to be on the ball when it comes to customer service. A buyer reported one of the safety rails on her bed broke after 6 months of use and the manufacturer issued her a full refund. That sounds like pretty good service to me. Of course, the buyer would have probably preferred to have an undamaged bed, but: when issues do arise, it’s important to know you can count on the manufacturer to make things right.
Other than that, the only issue I’ve seen reported more than once is the noisy slide. The slide can apparently make a (quite loud) noise when being used. It’s probably two metal parts making contact. One of the reviewers posted a video and, yes, the noise does seem quite loud, I can imagine how this would rattle some nerves. Apparently, putting the slide on a carpet alleviates the problem.
Finally, and this is not exactly a ‘con,’ but: several buyers mentioned the slide turned out to be bigger than they expected. So, once again: measure your room carefully, make sure you have enough space.
Bottom Line
It is good looking, it is easy to assemble, it is solidly built (well, for the most part) and, above all, it is FUN. And the kids just love it.
