Introduction
The Camaflexi solid wood loft bed (branded Mack & Milo Snari at Wayfair) is the full size variety of the Camaflexi twin loft bed. It has the exact same planked headboards and footboards plus horizontal plank guard rails. It is also of the same rugged build, as indicated by the specification that says it can support 600 lbs of resting weight. That’s a very respectable figure, but there is some reason for me to doubt its accuracy; the actual tested weight capacity for this bed might be even higher.
Why do I think so? Well, I noticed on the manufacturer’s website there are actually two listings for this loft bed, and they seem to be identical in every respect except for the color and, you guessed it, the listed weight capacity. One listing states the weight capacity to be 600 lbs, the other says 1000 lbs. I have reached out to the manufacturer hoping to get an explanation whether this is just a typo or are these actually two different loft beds, but have not heard back. If I do, I’ll post an update here.
In any case, the specs on the retailer’s website state 600 lbs, so let’s just go with that. As said, it’s a respectable figure, higher than most other loft beds can even dream of. I’d say situations where one would need more are quite rare.
The ladder on this loft bed is angled and features five wide rungs to facilitate climbing. The rungs seem to be smooth; some grooves there would reduce the possibility of slipping. Something to improve in the future, I guess. The ladder can be attached to either side of the bed.

The guardrail height on the Camaflexi loft bed is specified at 16 inches, which is pretty much as high as guardrails go. The recommended mattress thickness is 9 inches, leaving a comfortable 7 inches of space to prevent possible roll-offs.
This loft bed is 72.5 inches high, a few inches higher than an average bunk bed, so be sure that your room has a high enough ceiling. There should be at least 3 feet of space between the top of the bed and the ceiling. Of course, that does leave plenty of usable space underneath for storage, study or play.
The Camaflexi Full Size Loft Bed is available in four finishes: cappuccino, gray, white and natural.
What Users Say
At the time of this writing there were almost 600 ratings on the Camaflexi loft bed at Wayfair.com alone. The average rating was 4.6 stars. More than 70% of reviewers gave the bed five stars. Less than 2% gave it a one star.
The Pros
Most reviewers describe the bed as very sturdy. This is by far the most used adjective related to this loft bed. It is also said to be well made, of great quality and very solid. ‘Holds up very well’ and ‘does not shake’ are yet another couple of phrases used to convey the reviewers’ satisfaction with the bed’s quality. One buyer reported the bed is ‘pretty stable’ when she crawls up there to read to her son.
I did see a few reviews saying the bed is slightly wobbly, but in all such cases reviewers pointed out it’s the amount of wobble one would expect from a loft bed, especially one of such height. Or, as one user put it: ‘feels as sturdy as any loft bed feels.’
Then there’s the appearance. I don’t think I exaggerate when I say everyone loves how this bed looks. ‘Beautiful’ is the word being used over and over. One user wrote it looks ‘high end’ and the paint is bright clean white. Another described the material and finishing as ‘very gorgeous.’ ‘Awesome’ and ‘amazing’ are being thrown in as well. One user called the bed phenomenal and backed it up by saying everyone wants her daughter’s room now.
Opinions on the ease of assembly vary. Some say it’s a little challenging, others say it’s a breeze. Some say the instructions are clear and easy, others feel they are a little vague and could be better. But I guess I the end everyone managed to put the bed together just fine.
The Cons
There’s not that much, really. Some reports of shaking and wobbliness. One buyer reported a crack in the wood after a month of use. Another complained about some of the nuts and bolts not fitting together.
One thing I’ve seen mentioned often enough to make a point about it (not really a con, though, just a note) is the ability to take the bed down from the loft to be used as a regular bed. I couldn’t tell you for sure if that’s possible. From some of the reviews I gather that it used to be, but is not anymore. Then again, plenty of available pictures show the bed with stackable posts; that is, the four main posts are each made of two shorter parts instead of one long part, suggesting they could be detached. Then yet again, those pictures may just be dated. So, if this is something that’s important to you, it’s probably best to ask the retailer about it before making a commitment.
Bottom Line
If what you need is a tall, sturdy, good-looking and not too expensive loft bed made out of real wood, this one, by most accounts, deserves a close look. As always, go through the reviews yourself to get a better feel for the product before hitting that ‘Buy’ button.
