Introduction
The Merax full over full low bunk bed features a sleek contemporary design that fits well with various decor styles.
The bed is a mere 51 inches tall, which takes the room’s ceiling height out of the equation. Have a 7-foot ceiling? Not a problem. A slanted ceiling? Likewise, although this does depend to an extent on how low the ceiling is at at the room’s edge. Worst case, though, you move the bed away from that wall some.
Such low height has been achieved by eradicating the under bed space; the mattress support panel lies barely two inches off the ground here. Furthermore, the space between the beds had to be reduced some as well, to what I estimate to be around 30 inches (based on the dimensions image below). With a 6 inch mattress in place this leaves just 24 inches of space for the dweller on the lower bunk, which for that reason is usually reserved for smaller kids.

The static weight capacity for this bunk bed is specified at 250 lbs for the top bunk. This is a decent figure, made possible by what looks like a very good mattress support panel. It consists of 14 densely spaced slats per bed and a centered rod on both the top and bottom bunk for additional support. Looking at it, the impression is the manufacturer might have gone a little conservative when specifying that weight limit. But, better to be on the safe side, I guess.

The guardrail height on the top bunk is about 12 inches. That’s my estimate based on the dimensions image above. The measurement says 11.2 inches from the top edge of the guardrail to the top edge of the side rail. Plus, the slats lie about an inch or so inside the side rail. It’s a decent guardrail, nothing spectacular, but good enough for a low bunk bed. It will safely accommodate a 6 inch mattress. And you probably shouldn’t go with anything thicker on the low bunk either, to not make the space constraint any worse.
The ladder here is vertical and clipped on, with what looks like 3 nice comfortable rungs. It doesn’t appear as if it can be attached to the other side of the bed, but do note that I am not stating a fact here. I just haven’t come across any images with the ladder on the other side, nor have I seen any such explicit statement anywhere.
The Merax full size low bunk bed is available in two finishes: gray and white.
Merax Full Size Low Bunk Bed With Slide

There is a version of this bunk bed with an attached slide. If you are planning to move your toddler from a cot to her or his first big bed, a slide can be a great incentive if the little one has some reservations about your plans.

One thing about slides is, they take up a lot of space. The measurement here says 44 inches, plus the width of the bed, that’s over 100 inches of free space you’ll need in your room. And even that’s not all, there needs to be some run-out area as well, you can’t have the slide end too close to a wall or a piece of furniture to avoid bumping accidents.
The slide is angled at an acceptable 35º. For safety reasons slides shouldn’t be too steep, to avoid excessive speeds.
What Users Say
At the time of this writing there weren’t enough ratings available to make any meaningful conclusions on what buyers’ think about this bunk bed. When that changes, I’ll update this article.
