Featuring the full panel and slats look for both its headboards and footboards, the Alimi Twin Over Twin Solid Wood Bunk Bed stands out among today’s plentiful bunk bed offering. Besides being a delight to look at, its modern clean lines will permit it to fit into most rooms with ease.
The bed is made of wood. I can’t tell you exactly what type of wood because I haven’t been able to find that information anywhere. From users’ comments I’m guessing that it is a sort of soft wood, most likely a pine of some kind, but really I am just guessing here.
The listed weight capacity for the top bed is (only) 165 lbs, which is (significantly) lower than some other bunk beds. The pictures show eight mattress support slats (if I counted them correctly) and no lengthwise support to them, which may be the reason why. Most competitors offer 13 or 14 support slats, or they reinforce the slats with a perpendicular rod. Sometimes both. The slats are vertically oriented which does increase their load capacity, but also reduces the surface supporting the mattress. This means a memory foam mattress might not be appropriate for this bed. But it’s best to ask the retailer about it.
The Alimi bunk bed is available in four finishes: gray, espresso, white and black.
The ladder has four rungs, is straight and clipped on and can’t be moved to the other side.
The bunk bed can be separated into two single beds. The end posts are of different height, so the beds don’t exactly match.

This bunk bed seems to be very popular as it has well over a thousand ratings on Wayfair. The average rating was 4.4 stars at the time of this writing, which is a very good result, but I do have to say I have noticed a higher than usual negative or at least not entirely positive reviews in the comments section, suggesting perhaps that plenty of users gave it a high rating without leaving a comment.
The Pros
So what are people liking? It’s sturdy, it’s solid, it looks nice, it’s easy to put together, the instructions are good, that’s the gist of it. Certainly the kids all seem to love it. Plenty of reviewers wrote the bed is of great quality for the money spent. The packaging gets some praise, with all the pieces and parts said to be well labeled and organized. Which of course helps with the assembly.
The Cons
The negative comments mostly have to do with damaged pieces, scratches, poor quality finish. A user reported screws got loose and free after 1 month. (Side note: it is recommended that you retighten the screws after a couple of weeks of use.) Another user complained two of the bed posts had broken in half after less than 3 months. More cracked pieces and chipped parts, missing nuts and bolts.
Several users who ordered the white finish complained that the finish is not exactly white. It’s described as being more of an eggshell white or off-whitecream rather than pure white. Which may be an issue if you have other white furniture in the room and you want a matching piece.
Bottom Line
Well, I guess if you are not so unlucky to receive a package with damaged parts you will probably be happy with your purchase. It is a nice bunk bed, especially for the price. And there are almost 700 five-star ratings on it. So the question is: are you feeling lucky today?
