Introduction
The DHP Jett Junior (branded Ahana at Wayfair) metal loft bed seems to be the smaller cousin of the Tommy Twin Metal Loft Bed by the same manufacturer. All tubular design, rounded corners, it’s the same design language.
The bed is exactly 50 inches high. The lower height makes it ideal for younger children: they will climb in and out of the bed more easily, and any safety concerns parents may have are much alleviated due to the fact that the mattress top sits only about 43 inches off the floor. Parents actually often use this type of bed to transfer kids to their first big girl/boy bed.
The guardrail is 12 inches high on this low twin metal loft bed; enough to safely accommodate the 6 inch mattress recommended by the manufacturer.
The ladder is angled and made of thin tubes that don’t look very agreeable to the feet. That said, there are only 3 rungs here. Plus, padding is often suggested as a solution to the problem. Pool noodles are the most common choice, but many also recommend pipe insulation or a simple half inch foam padding. Fasten with zip ties and there you go. Problem solved.

There is 36.5 inches of vertical space beneath the bed which may not seem like much at first, but you’d be amazed at the stuff that can be worked in there. There are user posted images out there of elaborate play areas with tiny little desks and tiny little chairs and other tiny little stuff that’ll knock you off your feet. Or, you can use the space as storage area. Organized or not.
The weight capacity for Jett Junior Twin Metal Loft Bed is specified at 200 lbs. Certainly enough for younger kids this bed is intended for, but it’ll also take a mom who wants to climb in there to read a bedtime story to or maybe count sheep with her little one.
The bed is supposed to be available in five finishes: silver, black, white, navy and the gorgeous pink pictured above. Note that the price may vary significantly depending on the finish, so, be sure to check them out all.
What Users Say
DHP Jett Junior is one very popular low loft bed: it has over 11000 ratings on Amazon and more than 2400 ratings on Wayfair. On Amazon, the average rating is 4.5 stars, on Wayfair it’s 4.7 stars. Well over three quarters of reviewers gave the bed five stars. On both sites.
The Pros
Build Quality: The majority of reviewers seem to be quite happy with the quality of the product. It has been described as ‘very sturdy’ and ‘really tight and strong.’ One reviewer shared his opinion that these beds are made from well constructed materials and went on to say: ‘Any metal bed I have ever seen has been squeaky and wobbly. Not this.’
Another buyer shared a similar experience: ‘I’m a 160 pound female and I got up there and shook it and it stayed steady firm.’ Yet another wrote: ‘Lots of relatively lightweight parts that fit together to make a sturdy bed.’
Ease Of Assembly: This bed is easy to assemble, there seems to be a consensus about it among buyers. The instructions are said to be straightforward and easy to read and follow. It actually takes an effort to find an opposing opinion. One reviewer called the process ‘super duper easy.’ Another wrote: ‘My husband and I put 2 beds together in about 90 minutes. It is STUPID easy. One of the simplest instruction manuals I’ve seen/used.’
Design: Most buyers love both the looks and the functionality of the Jett Junior loft bed. The height of the bed is described by one mom as just perfect to kiss her child goodnight without having to climb up there. Plenty of reviewers shared their content with how the bed opens up the room. The space underneath gets lots of favorable mentions, no matter what purpose it is used for.
The Cons
Pretty much the only thing that is repeatedly criticized is the ladder. Those thin rungs are apparently quite uncomfortable. However, this seems to bother the parents far more than it does the kids. This quote by one of the buyers sums it up perfectly:
Lord have mercy, the ladder is KILLER on the soles of my feet. It’s SO painful. My son hasn’t complained about it, but he also weighs like 30 pounds.
Other than that, there is an occasional complaint about missing or damaged parts and, inevitably, wobbliness. One reviewer took it to the extreme and wrote: ‘This thing is SO WOBBLY. I mean INSANELY WOBBLY.’ Which, you know, is a little hard to buy. I mean, if ‘this thing’ were really so wobbly the shopping sites would be alight with negative reviews.
Bottom Line
If you are in search for an affordable, good looking and functional twin metal low loft bed you probably need not look any further. There’s not much more to say except perhaps quote these two very satisfied buyers:
What can I say about this bed other than I absolutely, positively 100% love it!
I cannot get over the quality of this item for this low price. I was expecting to return it. Now I am in LOVE with this item.
