Introduction
What we have here is a low-height variety of the Classic Twin Over Full Bunk Bed by Maxwood Furniture. The lower bunk sits pretty much on the floor and the vertical space between the bottom and top bunk is somewhat reduced, by approximately 3 inches. The end result is a bunk bed barely 50 inches high.
Other than that, the low version is pretty much identical to its taller counterpart. It boasts the same 400 lbs weight limit for the top bunk. The mattress support for the upper bed is also the same: seven wooden slats and a centered metal rod underneath providing reinforcement.
The top bunk guardrail height is 14 inches, so you can confidently furnish it with up to an 8 inch mattress. Or even a 9 inch, if you feel adventurous. The manufacturer recommends a 5 inch mattress, and that’s for both top and bottom bunks. Which is understandable; the vertical space on the bottom bunk is at a premium.
A big difference between the high and low version of the Classic twin over full lies in the available color palette. While the high bunk bed comes in 7 different finishes, the low one is currently only available in white and pecan. Hmmm. Feels like this lovely low-height twin over full could use a bit more love and attention. But, it is what it is. Two colors, here they are:
The ladder is placed at the foot of the bed and angled, but it only protrudes an estimated 8 inches or so into the room. It comes with 3 wide grooved steps for safe and comfortable climbing and securely attaches in place with metal hooks.
Twin Over Full Low Bunk Bed With Stairs
Classic Twin Over Full Low Bunk Bed is also available in a configuration with a staircase. If that ladder does not look very safe to you or if you have the required space and could use some storage volume this might be just the ticket. Note there are no classic drawers here, just some enclosed space that you access from the side. The staircase is 18 inches wide, so this increases the total length of the bed to 99 inches.
