Black Metal Loft Beds

Powell Z-Bedroom Full Size Metal Loft Bed with study desk in black finish.

On this page you will find some of the most popular black metal loft beds made by reputable manufacturers such as DHP and Walker Edison. Included are two twin size beds, two full size metal loft beds, two loft beds with built-in desk and two low lofts. Full review for each of these beds is just a click away.

Note: if you open a product review page and the main/featured image does not show a loft bed in black, don’t fret. There is a black version available, you’ll come across the image as you read on.

Twin Size

Let’s start with a couple of simple, bare-bones, high twin metal loft beds. These are 72 inches high (or thereabouts) and require at the very least an 8 foot ceiling. Preferably 9, but who has that choice, right? That does mean they have a sizable volume of space underneath the bed, though. To be used at your discretion.

DHP’s Tommy is all circular tubes and rounded corners, a classic, elegant design that will fit in pretty much everywhere. The Braga seems to come from a generic manufacturer, but don’t let that deter you. In the pictures it looks robust enough, and sports double the weight capacity compared to much of the competition.

Full Size

The full sized DHP Tommy is the bigger cousin of the twin sized version of this bed featured above. It’s more or less the same design, except the ladder here is integrated into the frame, probably to save some space. The Walker Edison Sunset loft features WE’s signature double ladder design. Full-length guardrails here, no opening for easier access to the bed. Some younger kids might struggle with it. But then, this being a full size bed, it’s probably geared towards a bit older crowd.

Black Metal Loft Beds With Desk

Two different approaches to designing a loft bed with desk here. The twin sized Walker Edison Sunset incorporates a classic approach, just four posts and a lofted bed, not really trying to invent something new. The Powell’s award-winning futuristic Z-shape design, on the other hand, looks like something out of Star Trek. Both beds feature a full-length desk with a keyboard tray and a small bookshelf and are suited equally well for studying and gaming.

Low Height Metal Black Loft Beds

Low height black metal loft beds are suitable for younger kids or kids with parents who might be a little jittery about the whole premise of their precious one(s) sleeping 5 plus feet off the ground. A low loft bed in this case might be acceptable as a compromise, or perhaps as a transitional device, allowing both parties to acclimate to the situation before possibly moving on to the real deal.

It was probably clear to anyone who has cast even a cursory glance at the Jett Junior bed that this is a cousin of the two Tommy beds featured above. Circular steel tubes, rounded corners, simple but elegant frame, it’s the same look. The Giantex bed, at a mere 42 inches of height, is perfect for transitioning toddlers to their first ‘big’ bed. With a slide as a giant incentive (in case one is needed).

Black is more than just a color; it is a statement, a mood, a symbol. Its versatility and depth have made it a staple in fashion, art and design for centuries.

Black is synonymous with elegance and sophistication. In design — and especially in interior design — black is often used to create a sleek, modern look. Black accents can add a touch of luxury and modernity to any space. The color has a timeless appeal and highlights simplicity and clarity.

And this is exactly what black metal loft beds are all about. They exude a contemporary, hi-tech, minimalistic look. Some say this makes them more suitable for modern environments rather than traditional, but I would argue that these elegant black beds can fit in pretty much anywhere.
